All of them had been reportedly motivated by Hawara for carrying out big operations.
JALANDHAR: The state police have identified at least five human bombs during their follow-up operations in the wake of the arrest of Babbar Khalsa activist Jagtar Singh Hawara. They included Hawara's alleged wife Balwinder Kaur, Ashwani Dadwal, who was arrested in Hoshiarpur on Thursday, and Sukhdeep Singh granthi, who committed suicide by jumping into the well in Hoshiarpur district.
Besides, a granthi in Moga district has also been identified as a human bomb. All of them had been reportedly motivated by Hawara for carrying out big operations in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Sources said their targets included former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal, president of All-India Anti-Terrorist Front Maninderjit Singh Bitta, former Punjab DGP KPS Gill and some other police officers, who played critical role in combating militancy. The police investigations revealed that Hawara did make abortive attempts to execute killings through human bombs, but could not succeed. In all, the police have so far recovered more than 25 kgs of RDX that was supposed to have been used for executing blasts. Meanwhile, the state police have launched an intensive survey of deras, particularly those run by the Akhand Kirtani jathas. It is believed that Hawara found easy targets for motivation among the Akhand Kirtani followers.
